Live Cricket Score: Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh, 2nd ODI at Hambantota

Dilshan smashed a blazing century as he helped Sri Lanka chase down a revised total of 238 to register a comprehensive eight-wicket victory against Bangladesh in the first One-Day International (ODI) at Hambantota.

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bowl first in the second ODI at the same venue.

There are two changes in the Bangladesh squad, with Tamim Iqbal and Rubel Hossain being left out.  Jahurul Islam and Mominul Haque come in the team replacing them.

Abul Hasan has been left out as well in the Bangladesh squad and Ziaur Rehman will play as the second seamer. Bangladesh is playing an extra batsman.

After a lot of interruptions due to faulty flood lights, the Sri Lankan innings was delayed and eventually the target was revised to 238 with just 41 overs to play. Openers Dilshan and Kushal Perera got off to a flying start as they were scoring at just under 10 runs per over. Perera was dismissed in the 13th over after he scored 42 off just 35 deliveries.

Kumar Sangakkara joined Dilshan in the middle and the duo added 128 runs for the second wicket to take Sri Lanka close to the Bangladesh target.

Bangladesh pulled one back by dismissing Sangakkara but it was too little too late as the home side finished the game with 5.2 overs to spare.

It will be interesting to see how Bangladesh tackle Sri Lanka after a poor show in the first ODI at the same venue.

South Africa crash Ponting party with big win

Australia's batsman Ricky Ponting South Africa thrashed Australia by 309 runs in the third Test on Monday to hold on to their number one Test ranking and ruin an emotional farewell for veteran batsman Ricky Ponting.  Set a mammoth target of 632 runs to win, Australia lost their first wicket on the second ball of the fourth day and they never were eventually dismissed for 322 as the Proteas sealed the three-Test series 1-0.  Graeme Smith's South Africans became the first team in two decades to defeat Australia on home soil in consecutive tours, with the West Indies the previous team to achieve it in 1992-93.  And they achieved it with sporting good grace after forming a highly unusual honour guard for the Ponting, 37, Test cricket's second highest run-scorer, as he emerged for his final innings.  "I was a little bit embarrassed and wish it didn't happen that way, but it was an amazing gesture by Graeme and the South African team," Ponting said.  In their 2...

KKR's Shardul Thakur Shines with a Stunning Knock as RCB Suffers Defeat in IPL 2023

S hardul Thakur's impressive innings of 68 runs off just 29 balls, combined with exceptional performances from spinners Varun Chakravarthy, Suyash Sharma, and Sunil Narine, helped Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) secure their first points of IPL 2023 with a resounding 81-run victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Despite a shaky start with the bat, including a first-ball duck for Andre Russell, Rahmanullah Gurbaz's crucial knock of 57 off 44 balls provided some stability for KKR. However, it was Shardul Thakur's aggressive batting display that turned the tables on RCB's bowlers. He smashed boundaries and sixes, hitting a joint-quickest half-century of the season in just 20 balls. Rinku Singh also played a supporting role, contributing 46 runs off 33 balls as he and Shardul added 103 runs for the sixth wicket. KKR's total of 204/7 was a challenging target for RCB. In response, RCB started well with Virat Kohli and Faf du Plesis smashing 42 runs off the first fou...

Virender Sehwag has called for more patience from India's batsmen

Virender Sehwag  has called for more patience from India's batsmen, which they can learn from their England counterparts, but he knows it can only help them in the upcoming matches. About  this Test , he merely stated he wasn't an atheist. "We have to work hard in the next game," he said. "We are still fighting. Hopefully something happens tomorrow and we can save the match, but I… only god can help us." Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir at their 86 run partnership In his press conference, Sehwag said at least three times that the batsmen lacked patience. Asked if it was embarrassing that a No. 8, R Ashwin, made batting look easier than the specialist batsmen, Sehwag said: "It's not embarrassment. He is also part of our team. He is a good player. He knows how to score runs and how to survive. Depends on an individual to individual. My batting style is different, and others are different, and Ashwin's is different. If you apply yourself...
