KKR winner of IPL-5

IPL 5 defending champion Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) will open their campaign at their home ground against last year's semifinalist Delhi Daredevils in the inaugural match of the Pepsi Indian Premier League 6 (IPL - 6) at the historic Eden Gardens on April 3.

One of the main highlights of the sixth edition of this tournament will be the debut of Sunrisers Hyderabad, who joined the League in October this year.

They will begin their IPL innings with a home game against Pune Warriors India on April 5.

The tournament will be played in the same format as the 2012 edition. Each of the nine participating teams will play the other eight teams twice, at home and away basis. The top four teams, at the end of the round-robin stage on May 19 will qualify for the Playoffs.

Mumbai Indian will start their tournament with Royal Challengers Bangalore on 4th April at Bangalore

The Qualifier 1 and Eliminator games will be played at the M A Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai ? the home ground of the IPL 2012 runners-up - on May 21 and May 22 respectively.

The Qualifier 2 encounter and the Final, will be played at the Eden Gardens ? the home ground of the 2012 edition winners ? on May 24 and 26 respectively.

Indian captain MS Dhoni ruled out of Asia Cup with injury

Under-fire Indian commander Mahendra Singh Dhoni was on Thursday discounted of the approaching Asia Cup cricket competition because of a side-strain harm that he endured throughout the second Test in New Zealand, preparing for Virat Kohli to lead the side. "MS Dhoni has been discounted of the imminent Asia Cup, to be played in Bangladesh, in February-March 2014. The Chennai Super Kings management remains optimistic about MS Dhoni's participation in the ongoing IPL 2023 season, despite him nursing a knee injury that has limited his movements.
