South Africa crash Ponting party with big win

Australia's batsman Ricky Ponting South Africa thrashed Australia by 309 runs in the third Test on Monday to hold on to their number one Test ranking and ruin an emotional farewell for veteran batsman Ricky Ponting.  Set a mammoth target of 632 runs to win, Australia lost their first wicket on the second ball of the fourth day and they never were eventually dismissed for 322 as the Proteas sealed the three-Test series 1-0.  Graeme Smith's South Africans became the first team in two decades to defeat Australia on home soil in consecutive tours, with the West Indies the previous team to achieve it in 1992-93.  And they achieved it with sporting good grace after forming a highly unusual honour guard for the Ponting, 37, Test cricket's second highest run-scorer, as he emerged for his final innings.  "I was a little bit embarrassed and wish it didn't happen that way, but it was an amazing gesture by Graeme and the South African team," Ponting said.  In their 2...

KKR's Shardul Thakur Shines with a Stunning Knock as RCB Suffers Defeat in IPL 2023

S hardul Thakur's impressive innings of 68 runs off just 29 balls, combined with exceptional performances from spinners Varun Chakravarthy, Suyash Sharma, and Sunil Narine, helped Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) secure their first points of IPL 2023 with a resounding 81-run victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Despite a shaky start with the bat, including a first-ball duck for Andre Russell, Rahmanullah Gurbaz's crucial knock of 57 off 44 balls provided some stability for KKR. However, it was Shardul Thakur's aggressive batting display that turned the tables on RCB's bowlers. He smashed boundaries and sixes, hitting a joint-quickest half-century of the season in just 20 balls. Rinku Singh also played a supporting role, contributing 46 runs off 33 balls as he and Shardul added 103 runs for the sixth wicket. KKR's total of 204/7 was a challenging target for RCB. In response, RCB started well with Virat Kohli and Faf du Plesis smashing 42 runs off the first fou...
